Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images and extract any location information included.

- Leaving a comment may allow you to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last one year.
- Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- Logging in sets cookies for your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last one year, and “Remember Me” extends login to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
- Editing or publishing an article sets a temporary cookie (no personal data) indicating the post ID; it expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How Long We Retain Your Data
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.
- Registered users’ personal information is stored in their profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information (except username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
- All data is reset every three years. Maintain your own backups to prevent data loss.
Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data. You may also request erasure of your personal data, except for data we are legally required to keep.
